I set up shop today at The Cookery to have lunch and crank out a few hours of work. I was also here yesterday. It’s likely that I’ll be here again tomorrow. Soon this place is going to be packed with folks, so I’m taking advantage of the quiet before word gets out about the free wi-fi and delicious food.
Y’all, this place is cozy.
The Cookery is a restaurant/cafe/coffee shop with a full menu of incredible food. The chef/founder/jack-of-all-trades is a former Sous Chef from Fleming’s so it’s safe to say that he knows his way around the kitchen! He also knows what the homeless life is like and from those streets the concept for The Cookery was born.
The Cookery isn’t just another place to grab a meal in town. The restaurant is a division of Lambscroft whose mission is “to bring the poor, spiritually bankrupt and/or financially destitute into a safe environment, providing immediate shelter, while entering earnestly into learning skills necessary for the restoration of their entire being.” I’ve had the privilege to volunteer with Lambscroft for a little more than a year and have been incredibly blessed in doing so. It’s a great group of folks who care for others. Whether you’re looking to give back or just plain hungry, The Cookery should be on your list of go-to restaurants!
