A nice perk of owning your own business and being able to work from anywhere is the ability to leave town for a few days and still be “working.” I headed to Lexington last week to spend a few days with a friend and catch the last UK basketball home game. It was nice to have a little break from my typical routine and still crank out the work.
On the drive back to Nashville I stopped in Elizabethtown to have lunch with mom. She works about 15 minutes away, so it worked out nicely to have some catch up, mother/daughter time. Our conversations typically revolve around the the kids in our lives — my nephew, my baby cousins, the children of friends back home.
My cousin’s two girls are 4.5 and 2.5 and quite the handful, but this story in particular has left me giggling days later…
One day my aunt went downstairs to discover that they had used the potty chair bucket (do you call that thing a bucket?!) to get water.
Water that they then poured out onto the basement floor.
Why, you ask? Well, they wanted to turn the basement into an ice skating rink like they saw on TV!
Ah, it seems like the Olympics left their mark on everyone — even the littlest ones — who watched. You gotta admit, it’s pretty clever, right? It seems like they need a science lesson to understand how water turns to ice, but I’ll score them a perfect 10 for their creative efforts.
