This post doesn’t really need any words, but I’m going to add a few anyway. I had the privilege of shooting my first birth earlier this week and it was one of the most incredible, beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed. One minute, I’m sitting next to the father-to-be waiting for the surgery to begin (the baby was delivered by C-section) and the next, there’s a screaming baby. I’ve compared it to a magician pulling a rabbit out of his hat! I mean, I know where the baby came from, but it just didn’t seem real.
The next several minutes were full of emotion — daddy keeping an eye on baby girl from a distance while they checked her vitals and cleaned up her a bit, mommy hanging tight while they fixed her up, grandparents and great-grandparents anxiously waiting down the hall, exploding with glee when they received the news that Evelyn had arrived.
I spent the full day at the hospital with the new family and loved getting to capture all of the sweet moments. Seeing each friend and family member meet and hold baby girl for the first time never got old. It was a day full of joy, tears, and poopy diapers and I’m so glad I was able to capture all those big moments (minus the poopy diapers)!
Are you expecting? I would love to capture your baby’s birth story. Contact me for more details!
